Like you, I don’t want August to be Pinocchio, and would like him to be a new character. I’m just wondering based on what has been pointed out previously. One thing that is a strike against August being Pinocchio is, as pointed out on the podcast, Pinocchio is a red-headed little boy in FTL, whereas August is a brunette (unless August’s natural hair color darkened with age or he died it so as not to be recognizable):
