THIS a million times! I do think that Hook volunteering the JR might be a way to try to make things up to him and it opens the door to some comforting of Emma too as he more than anybody understands what she’s going through, just like when they were talking on the beanstalk (the only time he’s been “real” and open to anyone). They’ve already got the Milah / Graham connection and now Emma getting hit with the Neal thing again (even though he’s probably not actually dead she is probably convinced he basically is), so perhaps we’ll see a softer side of Hook and more of that commiseration rather than the overt flirtation and innuendos (not that I don’t love those, but as soon as the convo turned serious at the top of the beanstalk, a switch flipped for him – I want to see that again).
In this case, Hook actually knows the guy in question so there could definitely be some good stuff, especially good for transitions and to show us Hook & Bae’s past and how he is now. Neal didn’t have a problem having Hook tied up but we haven’t really gotten to see them interact in present day and to a pirate being tied up is nothing (for instance, Hook doesn’t mind Emma besting him as it impresses him). Being a pirate people fight, abandon each other one day and be fighting side by side against someone else the next so anything can happen.
I’m still hoping for some form of NealFire Pan and I think that would make the triangle even better, especially if the guys had a much better relationship than one would typically expect!
