A friend of mine was watching it on Netflix and I was sitting on the floor, drawing. I was incredibly bored. I asked her what she was watching, and she described the show to me. I instantly said “Haha, lame. Sorry, but no.” After what felt like hours (she was watching the entire thing from the beginning), I heard a giggle…a weird, male giggle. I looked up at her and asked who that was. She described to me man who made a deal and turned into a monster. I was still very nonplussed by the idea and was really sarcastic to her. I proceeded to ask a series of questions (Why on earth did he make the deal?
Why did he kill the other guy?What does a knife even have to do with it? So, the curse is the reason his voice is so high pitched?) Even in the midst of condemning the show before I’d even seen it, I couldn’t help but be a little interested. I told her to call me to see the screen when the “scaly man” was back on screen. I just wanted to see what he looked like. Of course, I got up and glanced at the screen to see before she called me and saw a man in a suit. She said, “That’s him”. I told her that he wasn’t scaly at all and she told me that hiss fairy tale counterpart was. So, I stayed and watched until the person that I know now as Rumpelstiltskin appeared. I haven’t stopped watching since. Suffice it to say, he’s my favorite character. 😀
