The ship didn’t necessarily have the necessary properties. The ash from the enchanted wardrobe wood was special because it was the remains of a portal. Hook still needed a bean to get to Neverland, (and to our world), so his boat’s wood doesn’t have the same portal properties that the wardrobe wood did.
