I’m not sure yet. It seems like there might be. I just re-watched the What Happened to Frederick episode and it seems like Catherine’s car accident was due to her trying to leave Storybrooke but her disappearance was due to Regina burning the letter she wrote to David. Also it seemed like AWB was adding pages to the book about Frederick and only after he added the pages to the book did the gym teacher version of Frederick appear in FTL. Almost like Frederick never existed before in FTL until AWB wrote him into the book but once he was written into the book – POOF – his Storybrooke equivalent appeared. Also the whole Windmill thing with David’s memory in Mr. Gold’s pawnshop – but Mr. Gold seemed to question whether David really remembered anything then. If there is magic – it is much more subtle than it was in FTL. I guess my bigger question is WHO has the ability to do magic in Storybrooke. It seems like if it exists in Storybrooke Regina is the one who has the ability to do it but it would seem like Mr. Gold should have the ability to do magic as well. Or maybe he can but is just pretending he can’t because he doesn’t want Regina to know he is still powerful in that way? In Skin Deep when he was in jail he told Regina that he was the one with the power in Storybrooke so there is obviously some kind of power struggle between the two of them, and I don’t think it is limited to the superficial mayor vs. town rich (and extremely good looking – oh my, did I just say that??) guy competition.
