@ hjbau: Agreed. I don’t think Mr. Gold remembered FTL as a result of any sign in SB. It appears he always knew the truth and was just playing dumb to fool Regina (up until she used the chipped cup to force him to say his FTL name). He is a very cunning character, and he obviously knew in advance that he’d be immune to the dark curse.
