To each their own. For everyone who loves Hook and thinks he is a complex character, there is one person who isn’t crazy about Hook and wants more Rumple or Regina or Emma or Snow, ect.
Personally, I find Rumple to be the most complex character on the show and while I like Hook, I don’t find him to be as exciting as anyone else. I do believe that Hook/Neal/Emma will be relationship angst of S3, but I do not believe that Hook will be solely responsible for “saving the show” and I doubt focusing on just one character or relationship will cause the ratings to change much. This is a multiple character show and they need to spread the weight out evenly. I have no doubt there will be plenty of Hook next season, but there will be plenty of Rumple and Snow and Regina and everyone else.
