He could have used dark magic (something he’s more familiar with) but he chose to use true love. And top of that, it’s magic made from the true love of Emma’s parents.
I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe he is trying to get to a point where he can give up being the dark one.
Another interesting thing to think about is what exactally does that cloud do? Does it pull magic from FTL or does it create magic in Storybrook. If its the latter, than magic could have an entirely different set of rules. Think about it, In FTL magic is created by fairy dust (ground diamond) if it’s created here by true love–the greatest magic of all–things could be a lot different.
