That’s my theory as well. I think Rumpel made a deal with the fairies to send him to Neverland, but something went wrong and he ended up in Oz instead. That may explain his hatred of the nuns. Mr. Gold’s grudges are always inspired by something that happened in Fairytale land. He hated Moe French because of what happened to Belle, and he probably hates the nuns because of something horrible they did to Bae.
