I just don’t see what the point would be of making a character who is already miserable even more miserable. We’ve already seen him go through the loss of the two people he loved. We’ve seen him dealing with the pain and guilt for centuries. If we were to see him experience yet another loss there wouldn’t be too much character development, I think. Something has to change to keep his story interesting and change the dynamics a bit. The writers can’t make him go through the same type of situation over and over again. That’s not good writing in my opinion.
I agree. The same storylines being constantly repeated would become tiresome. I expect each character to change and evolve. I expect Mary Margaret to become stronger, I expect Emma to become more strategic, I expect Regina to reveal different layers to herself. Each character has to change and keeping them the same would grow tiresome.
And I agree, Midnight Dreary, Rumpel has already lost enough loved ones. He can’t keep paying for the price of magic because he has nothing else to give. In terms of truly precious possessions (like family members or lovers), Rumpel is out of stock.
