I apologize in advance if someone else has already brought up this topic, (there are so many posts here! 😉 ) but I believe Rumpelstiltskin is fascinated with children due to their innocence. Like Belle said, something evil has taken root in him. Thus, he clings to something pure. He may also be lonely without his son. He could possibly want a child for company. What does everyone else think?
