I think the clue is when Rumple said “in another life.” Rumple has had several “lives” at this point: Pre-Dark One Rumple (a humble cowardly spinner who probably had sheep and sheepdogs for his trade), Dark One Rumple, and Mr. Gold. *and of course in following Charming/David Nolan, he is all three* In my opinion Mr Gold and Dark One Rumple are pretty closely linked since Gold is technically still the Dark One, so his previous life would be the one before he became the Dark One. I wonder if we’ll ever get to see more of his life pre-Dark One. Maybe his time during the Ogre’s War?
