I agree. Belle told Rumpel how she had wanted to see the world and I think that’s what she started doing.When the curse hit, it locked Belle away because that would take away her happy ending. She and Rumpel were already apart so, unlike Snow and Charming who the curse tore apart, taking away Belle’s true love wouldn’t have been effective, keeping Belle locked up was.
As for Maurice, I don’t think he would ever hurt Belle intentionally. Even though he was desperate to stop the ogres, he turned Rumpel away when he said he wanted Belle in exchange for his help. As far as Maurice was concerned, Belle was still with Rumpel whilst Rumpel believed her to be dead so neither one was looking for Belle. Belle spoke to Grumpy in “Dreamy” and that was sometime after she left Rumpel and there was no indication that anyone was after her. After Regina told Rumpel about Belle’s death and he accused her of lying, she replied “Am I?” She neither confirmed nor denied what she was saying was true but let Rumpel draw his own conclusions which he did.
In Storybrooke, I don’t think Moe was even aware he had a daughter but now that his memories are back, I can see him and Rumpel clashing over Belle especially if Maurice/Moe thinks Rumpel has bewitched Belle into loving him.
