How did Regina lose custody of Henry? I think poisoning him with the apple turnover that was meant for Emma and nearly killing him made the adoption null and void. After that, even if she wanted Henry back, no one in town would have supported her, and since Henry wanted to be with his family, no one questioned it. She might still legally be his mother, but there is no way she could enforce this with the town against her.
The really creepy question is what does her mother want from her? She is truly heartless in every way, and I have the creepy suspicion that she has something to gain from Regina. I get the creepy feeling she does not just want rule her daughter’s life, but that when the time comes, she wants to become her, as in kill her and take over her body.
