I still have some reasons to root for David. Most importantly, I’m rooting for him to find Mary Margaret and make it work. He is a complex character. He seems to be the very opposite of Prince Charming in many ways because he is cursed. He is very conflicted, perhaps because he has conflicting memories between SB and FTL. Though he doesn’t want to hurt anyone, that’s all he ends up doing in SB. He has a hard time doing the right thing, because it’s very hard for him to figure out what the right thing to do is, as a result of the curse. On the one hand, he loves Mary Margaret, who really is his wife in FTL, which is the reason for his inexplicable attraction to her. On the other hand, he feels a sense of duty to Kathryn, who isn’t really his wife but is his fabricated wife in SB. He finally decides that the “right thing” is not to lead Kathryn on anymore and to let her find true love like she deserves. Kathryn seemed to come to terms with this in ep. 13 (before she disappeared). That’s why he’s going to end up in the care of Dr. Archie Hopper, a conscience, who’ll hopefully help David see what the right thing is. After ep. 15, I’m wondering what happened to make David have a “black-out” like he did when he awoke from his comma. The memory loss seemed to parallel the similar bouts of amnesia episodes Red had in FTL when in her wolf form. Also, I’m curious how Dr. Whale is involved, if at all, in David’s memory difficulties. I’m not sure whether Dr. Whale is a hero or villain now, since he isn’t a big bad wolf after all.
