I think it will be Cora that Snow kills, and that will still have a negative effect on her despite how awful Cora has been. I think it will give Regina yet another reason to despise snow, and therefore the Evil Queen is back in full vengeance. At Paleyfest, the creators did say that Regina's Evil Queen would return in a new way..
