It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Regina was somehow involved in whatever incident caused Jefferson to lose his wife.
Never thought about her trying to escape after being married to Leopold. She was beginning to look intent on revenge even before the wedding, so I figured she’d descend into that as opposed to trying to flee. I do think she sent her mother to live in Wonderland as QoH though, so perhaps Jefferson helped her with that.
