I think that is quite simply for me. When i look at the abusiveness of that situation, it bothers me that people think it is romantic and that Belle should stay with him. And it seems pretty rude to say that you think this idea is funny.

Abusiveness is not funny, the only thing I felt was “funny” was the way I knew exactly how you would respond in a Belle/Rumple Relationship themed thread – that is all. I appreciate that everyone has their own perspective and take on things and personal experience can intensify anyone’s reaction, I respect that.

I think the main reason why Rumple’s reaction to what he believed was Belle’s betrayal didn’t trigger a red flag with me personally is because I took it simply as that — a reaction to a perceived betrayal. If Rumple’s behaviour was like this consistently towards Belle then I would have felt differently, but Rumple wasn’t consistently yelling and shaking her…so, for me this was a one-off. Abuse can be characterized by a repeating pattern of abusive behavior…I just don’t see a repeating pattern here.

Belle doesn’t seem to have a significant role at the moment, I think simply because her storyline in season 1 in SB has her locked up and this doesn’t give a character much possibility for development.

But, Belle is a STRONG heroine that is part of a very much loved and popular disney fairytale – so now that she is out and about I am sure the writers will have her grow to be a positive, strong female heroine. OUAT has been praised for its portrayal of strong, independent female heroines so I don’t foresee even a remote possibility that the writers would simply kill her off.

For me, Belle and Rumple are a joy to watch – as individual characters and as a couple. I really appreciate how the writers have interpreted this Beauty and The Beast story and have given it a fresh, new twist. I think we should just agree that we disagree on this.
