Sort of? He wrote her name over and over and over in that squid ink so that it would really stick in his head. So when Emma says her name, it clicks in his head and he instantly remembers who he is. Until that moment, he thought he was Mr. Gold (and we’ve never really seen him as Mr. Gold because when we first see him in Storybrooke it is as soon as his curse broke making him Rumple again)
