I think both of the above posts have truth in them.
I do think he gave up a little to easily, in Rumpel opinon all he is good at is magic so once he had tried all the magical solution (true loves kiss, the the chipped cup) and relised that it wasn’t working he gave up and put all his anger into finding Bae, witch I think is the worst thing he could do at this point because Bae wanted to come to this world to stop Rumpel from hurting people and if Rumpel finds Bae while his throwing temper tantrums over Belle his not going to have much luck trying to convince him that his trying to change.

Instead of trying to speed up the process by handing her a broken cup and telling her that he had enchanted it,witch was clearly scaring her, he should had sat down next to her and started up a conversation to let her know that she doesn’t need to be afraid of him.
