I think he wants it broken because he cant leave Storybrooke to look for his son who is clearly not there. I think thats why he kept talking in the last episode about going on a trip. What I do wonder is why did he make it so that Emma dying would break the curse and yet he hasnt tried to kill her. He obviously had the opportunity. He could have just killed here and be over with it. So either he lied to Regina or he has something else up his sleeve ❓
