What I do wonder is why did he make it so that Emma dying would break the curse and yet he hasnt tried to kill her.
That’s what I’ve been thinking and can’t for the life of me come up with a solid reason why he wouldn’t take the opportunity. He seems to be perfectly happy letting Regina and Emma duke it out. Maybe he has faith that Emma will beat Regina.
There are a couple things I have considered. The first is that Emma is the “savior” therefore she can be seen as the champion or hero of this story and perhaps if the curse can be broken and people can leave SB, then Gold can look to Emma for assistance in finding Bae.
Secondly, there’s the matter of the favor Emma owes Gold and that could go a few ways. If Gold doesn’t call on the favor regarding Belle, then he would call it in following the aftermath of the curse being broken. Gold could ask Emma to help him find Bae.
Or, even more dramatic, he can cash in the favor and have Emma be his protector. I say that because if people in SB would regain their memories regarding Regina, then what’s to keep them from remembering who Gold really is. Perhaps, that’s why Gold was already making “travel plans.” Aside from him wanting to look for Bae, there’d also be a price on his head. That would be a dramatic element in the show – the savior of the FTL characters, now protecting their greatest enemy.
