I have wondered this, too and just thought I missed something since I did not see the very beginning of the pilot.
I think there are more people/beings/creatures we haven’t been introduced to. Everything can’t be revealed in one season if the show is going to last 5+ seasons.
Possibilities: 1) BF had her own protection from the curse and could come and go from SB. 2) The BF might have notified other magical beings in other realms before the curse. After the curse their realm ended up outside of SB town.(How else did Grace/Paige win a regional spelling bee???) So that Emma had a “fairy god mother” of sorts in the real word who might not have had magical powers but could travel and keep track of her. Then reports back to BF on Emma’s status. “They” could have brought Henry to SB on BF direction.
Perhaps the reason Emma remained outside of SB was to be able to grow up unnoticed by the EQ.
My follow up question would be was Emma having Henry just a coincidence or dystiny?
