How great to visit there! Years ago, I studied German in high school for two years and my dad lived there in the army decages ago for a year or two and picked up the some of the language. Boy did that help when I had German class learning the language. I only took two years and retained more just talking to my dad than my sister did taking four years of Spanish class. My second year we studied Munich so if I ever went that’s the area I’d want to go to.

If I remember my German correctly, the cave room was in honor of Richard Wagner. Ludwig was obsessed with Wagner. The castle was also never finished, wasn’t it. I do remember the banruptcy thing. One thing I hated, we had to sit through a video of Wagner’s “Der Ring Das Nibelungen.” Those Germans sure were intense.

Did you get to see Schloss Nymphenburg in Munich? It was modeled after the Palace of Versailles. That’s all I can really remember about it other than that it’s in Munich.

My dad said he got to see the Frankenstein’s castle where Mary Shelley supposedly based her novel. He said it looked like burned out ruins.

BTW, I hope we get to see Sleeping Beauty’s story, too. It was my favorite as a child and second only to “Beauty and the Beast”. Although it might be tied.
