Interesting stuff regarding Hook’s possible origins. However, I still think Killian Jones’ last name is a very deliberate choice, and names have meaning on this show. The writers might make him the son of Davy Jones, rather than the son of a king. Here is a clue from literature to support this idea:

In J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 novel Peter and Wendy, Captain Hook sings a song:
Yo ho, yo ho, the pirate life,

And hey for Davy Jones.
