I have to agree with malchore. Regina tried using the heart of her prize steed to enact the curse and had to go back to Rumpel to find out what went wrong. I don’t think she retrieved her father from Wonderland for that reason — she didn’t know. I really think she loved him, otherwise she wouldn’t have figured out he was the thing she loved most in Ep 2.
