I think Geppetto acted out of desperation as well. I can understand that as a parent, he’d want to save his child a horrible fate of turning into wood. Although, I think if he’d thought it through more, he might have realized that sending a baby through and entrusting its care to a 7-year-old might not have been a wise decision. If/When Emma finally believes in FTL, she is going to have a grudge against Geppetto for having a lousy childhood and being raised without a mother or father. I seriously teared up when baby Emma was left alone in her crib with no ally or guardian. She has been alone her entire life and it’s no wonder she has trust issues. Simultaneously, I understand that Pinocchio was just a 7-year-old kid who couldn’t face the responsibility. Heck, there are a lot of 27-year-old “kidults” who won’t face that kind of responsibility. I did like the fact that August now wants to set things to rights.
