Peter traveled to hear stories as well as have adventures. You could say he collected stories.
It is an interesting idea that perhaps he got left in Neverland.
For a time I have thought that he could also be Bae. That the fairies hid him in Neverland from Rumpel but he was allowed to visit other places/worlds and kind of became a traveler, a collector of stories if you will. Rumpel likes collecting too.
I admit though that if he knows what’s true why would he go by August Wayne Booth? Why would Bae have changed his name to Peter Pan, or perhaps the fairies gave him that name, or maybe like you propose he is a lost boy. Hmm! I’ve sort of dropped the crossover theory idea. But I still like the August is Peter Pan idea regardless or whether or not he is crossed with another character.
