It is disappointing that Charming hasn’t bonded with his daughter more. But if they’ve done that on purpose so they can set up this rift between Snowing, then I guess it’s at least serving a purpose. If Charming were as close to Emma as Snow is, then they wouldn’t disagree as much about the going or staying, and they couldn’t do this storyline with the same emotional impact. Perhaps he’s intentionally been keeping his distance, because he honestly believes they’ll be separated again in the not too distant future.
