These two were so sweet together, real kindred spirits, both being thieves but neither of them doing it for any other reason than to scrape by in life. It’s nice to know that he didn’t really screw her over, because that leaves it open for them to reunite easier. Mind you, even if he tells her what really happened, she could still be all, “So you just abandoned me instead of trying to find a way for us to stay together?! You can’t have loved me THAT much, then!” Neal believed August and went along with what he said after a single meeting. Emma thought August was a delusional liar no matter how much he tried to convince her. So I don’t think forgiveness and a reunion will be an instant thing.
If he is Bae, I was kinda hoping that Bae would have had a slightly darker edge to him after all his time in our world. So on the one hand, it’s a bit disappointing that he’s still such a good guy, but on the other hand, it’s nice that he didn’t get corrupted.
Dunno how much stock to put in the blatant shoutouts to Peter Pan, just because we know that the blatant shoutouts to Wizard of Oz were pure misdirection on the part of the writers last week, so they could have pulled the same stunt here too. Unless that’s what they want us to think and he will end up being Peter Pan.
Anyway, whoever he is, he’s gotta be from a magical world of some description, or there’s no way August would have been able to convince him.
