Honestly, I’ve been hoping since the end of the last season for Baelfire to be Jack, took a bean to Boston (his giant’s castle) and Jorge Garcia to play his ‘giant’: be it a crime leader, a bad foster parent, or combine the characters of the giant and his wife into being a sympathetic character. I’m sooo excited to see Jorge Garcia join the cast, even if it’s only for a short time!

Yes, if we’re going to find out what happened to Bae this season, assuming the Blue Fairy wasn’t lying or wrong about him going to a place without magic, then his back story must take place in the real world. So I agree with your theory that I don’t think the Giant will be a real Giant, just look like one and/or have that nickname.

I just wanna third that theory. Though obviously Jorge is on the larger side, I really don’t imagine them CGI-ing him into being an actual giant. It’d be far more interesting if he’s the personification of a giant obstacle of some description for Jack.

PS. I hope you don’t leave the forum, Lil’Red. Always like reading you posts and your beantown theory is one of the cleverest ideas I’ve read, so much so that I’ll actually be bummed if Adam and Eddy don’t take advantage of that idea.

I like the idea of both Emma and Baelfire standing alone and being their OWN characters to some extent – but look at the cast we now have: out of the parts announced and the cast members – it really does look like we’ll have some possible characters overlapping again.

I like that idea too since for me Emma, Bae, and Henry would be the only wholly original characters. However, I think like the producers have talked about how Emma’s back story is like the “Ugly Duckling”, it can also work that Bae is also Jack if his back story takes place in the real world. He’s not really Fairy Tale Jack as everyone knows that particular story, but he would be Jack in the sense that he was a young, naive kid that got brought to a new world full of giant everything via magical bean. Plus, since Jack is such a common name and Baelfire isn’t, he may have been rechristened Jack when he came here either because Baelfire was thought too weird by the people that found him or most likely, he was too scared at the time to tell them his real name.

That’s an interesting idea, that maybe the Jack/Giant story we’ll get won’t necessarily be intended to be a re-telling of the Jack/Giant fairytale story we’re familiar with.

Even if not though, if he is intended to be Jack and the Beanstalk Jack, I don’t think it confuses matters if he’s also Bae, coz I don’t really see Emma and Bae as being the same category of character. It’s true that they’re both characters who were children and were created by the show, but for me that’s where the similarity ends. Emma was born moments before FTL ended, so logically, she couldn’t be a character in a fairytale we all know, because no more fairytales were created once FTL went *poof*.

Bae was born centuries ago though, so it’s entirely possible that he had adventures of his own that came to be re-told and became a story we all know. So we think we know Jack’s story, but really, we only know the half of it, coz we don’t know that he started out as the son of Rumplestiltskin. That’s what this show is all about, telling us how stuff really happened. It’s like an expose, all the secrets of FTL that they didn’t want us to know, but Adam and Eddy found the secret files and are opening our eyes to the truth. 😉
