I know dead is dead…technically. But technically Philip only had his soul sucked out and hasn’t truly died, right? Maybe there’s a spirit land or a place with lost souls, between life and death, like a purgatory…and in that realm Gerhardt meets Philip and helps him return back to the land of the living?
Adam and Eddy strongly hinted that we didn’t see Philip actually die – his soul was just sucked out by the wraith. Also, yes, there is a spirit land, and we’ve already seen it feature when Aurora and Henry sleep. It’s not just a dreamland, since Rumple called it a “netherworld” between life and death where the soul travels as a consequence of the sleeping curse. That’s why both Henry and Aurora are experiences the side-effects even after having been awakened. I think it’s very possible that’s where Philip’s soul is, along with the countless souls the wraith sucked up.
