When he put Pan into the Box, Rumple made a comment about blood magic working both ways, and it was Neal who got Rumple out of the Box, so perhaps Rumple has to be the one to open the Box in this scene, hence the shawl, because he had to momentarily go over the line?
Oh good point. It has to be blood magic, again. (Where is Neal BTW? Is he with Henry?) and so far as they know, that is Pan in the box so Emma can’t open it as she is not related by blood to Pan.
