Disney Fairies has been around since 2008, longer if you count the books. They have meet and greets at Disneyworld, skating on Ice shows, and the movies and commercials come on Disney Channel all the time. It really is kind of big like other Disney cartoons nowadays. The fact that they used SilverMist means they are aware of it. I think its safe to say that while a few may not know of the series, its built up enough for a lot of Disney Fans to know of it. I’m not surprised if they use it.
Aware of it, sure. A and E are probably aware of everything Disney does given that Disney gives them bags-o-money. My point about people not knowing is this; only a small handful of people will know *those* tales and that cartoon. They don’t reach very far outside the widely known box. Everyone knows the BF but only a small amount of people will know Clarion.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they use it, like they did with Silvermist, but I don’t know that they’d tie the BF, who is a fairy in her own right from the Pinocchio story, to another fairy, at least not explictily. They might say she is Queen of the Fairies and others in the know can associate her with this Queen Clarion without actually saying, oh yes she is Queen Clarion. Heck, maybe they’ll even give her the name Clare. But they don’t have to sit down and say, “yes she is Queen Clarion” Inside references are enough.
