just like these observations. I’ve also seen some people who draw comparison to Regina’s clothing–but how much is intentional versus unintentional or just done for a different purpose than the ones fans might prefer?
Good question. Storyteller had a great thread about some of the clothing pieces Regina wears and interestingly enough some of those choices do tie back to Emma. Like the fact that Regina wears a lot of dreamcatcher jewelry and we associate dreamcatcher with Emma and SwanFire. Adam once had a conversation with people on Twitter about how it was intentional between Regina and Emma with the dreamcatcher as a theme instead of spoilers for plot.
Sometimes she’s just cold!
lol, yes. In 308 Emma started sporting a black sweater instead of the tank top and that had a lot to do with the fact that it was freezing in the studio. Sometimes clothing reflects real world issues and TV ones. 🙂
I do think they use colors at times, obviously to represent a mood or a stance, so there are times we can draw conclusions of some kind.
Right. Look at Snow White in FTL of the past. Before she is exiled out of her kingdom, her clothes are the whitest white you can get. A representation of her purity and goodness but also naivete, she doesn’t realize Regina has killed her father and is plotting to kill her. When she’s a Bandit, her clothes becomes more earthy creams and tans because she is no longer “snow white.” And then she becomes Military Snow and her clothes are more uniform-esque.
For instance, the shoelace on Emma’s wrist the actress said is a memorial to Graham, and the writers confirmed it.
Not only is it a nod, but it’s something JMO came up with herself. She decided Emma would wear Graham’s shoelaces because Emma is very sentimental person. Over her life she has kept trinkets from various people, despite how she has treated them or have they have treated her. She kept her baby blanket from Snow, even though she thought her parents abandoned her. She kept the keychain/pendant and the car from Neal, despite what happened. She kept Graham’s shoelaces even though he died. She kept the scarf from Hook. Girl is an emotional magpie.
