he problem I’m having here are all of Colin’s interviews in which he stated that Bae was like a son to him. That it’s very complicated because Hook does care for Baelfire and would have given up everything for him.
I’m having trouble too reconciling what Colin has said about Hook versus what we’ve actually seen play out so far on screen. Maybe, Lord willing, Hook will have an epiphany before it’s too late when he actually realizes Henry’s life hangs in the balance? Will Hook empathize with Neal more when he sees what hurt Neal has lived with, in large part because of being abandoned by Milha and by Rumple? Doesn’t Hook feel in the least bit contrite for helping destroy Bae’s family as a boy and convicted that he’s standing in the way now of Neal trying to reconcile with Emma and Henry? I still want to believe Hook has it in him to care about someone else’s interests, namely Neal’s, other than his own. But after tonight, I’m sorry, I’m just feeling discouraged about the lack of Hook’s character growth. It just feels like he’s not learned a thing about real sacrifice.
