I know there are more little scenes of how these two just understand each other. That’s not to say she doesn’t have moments where they don’t see eye to eye, or that she doesn’t connect on some level with Hook (or Charming, Snow, or Regina for that matter) too but I am saying Neal and Emma have had several scenes showing they get each other in a very deep way.

Yes I agree. Their stories parallel each other to the extent that they *get* each other. They know what it’s like to grow up without a family and homeless, to loose hope (think about the scene in Bae’s cave when Emma just knew what the scratches on the wall meant because she did the same thing). Home and family are the most important things to them and it’s a concept they associate with each other, even years after the Tallahassee incident: she kept the car and the pendant; he kept the dreamcatcher.

WORD to all of that from both of you! KFC, I just went back to see what comments you were talking about. I know it’s subjective lens and all, but seriously, those instances you listed are pretty straightforward interpretations of scenes. Unless it’s just obvious to me because of my bias? But seriously, those interactions between them seem pretty obviously to be two people understanding each other IMO. So if people are saying, “There hasn’t been one scene on the show that showed Neal understands Emma well.” (direct comment from the tumblr post), then I just have to wonder if we’re even watching the same show, or if people are just choosing to deliberately ignore entire scenes.
