When the moderator, Keck, asked MJR about landing in FTL, it sounded like Keck made a deliberate pause between saying Mulan… and Aurora and Phillip. Then he brought up that apparently “fans” are shipping Neal and Mulan. I LOVED GG’s, MJR and Eddy’s and J.Mo’s responses, because it was exactly what I was thinking. Is anyone really shipping Neal and Mulan on their own merits as characters?
I’ve seen WarriorFire mentioned a couple of times around tumblr and stuff, yep. Guess I can’t really talk because I’ve been shipping Hook for ages with a character we only just found out is gonna show up, but WarriorFire just seems so completely random.
Then, there was J.Mo’s awesome reply to the suggestion, “Watch it. That’s my baby’s daddy.”
Loved that! Though I get the sense from interviews overall that JMo is just excited to have romantic prospects for Emma now, and she’s not taking one side over the other, I did get a kick out of her little SF exclamation.
Luckily, the responses were pretty much everything I as a SF fan could have expected. They won’t spoil the suspense, but I loved Eddy saying the last thing he saw Baelfire do was say “I love you” to Emma. Then MJR saying how he will move heaven and earth and if there’s a captain in the way too–so be it. Perhaps seeing Neal having to struggle to get back to Emma, overcoming obstacles, fighting to get back to her (though not for her, she’s not a prize to be won!), will change some people’s minds that he doesn’t “deserve” to be with her, doesn’t want to be with her, won’t do everything to make sure she has a happy ending.
I sure hope that some more people see the positive in Neal once this part of the story unfolds. Even if not enough for someone to change their mind and ship it, but at least to not hate the character. I’ve come to feel rather protective of our Nealfire, and it bums me out when people only see his faults.
I do think Charming and Snow could change their minds about Hook if Emma did, but really, everyone’s glossing over this bit: how is Emma going to react to finding out Hook’s Milah was Neal’s mom and Rumpel’s ex? Is she supposed to just think “Oh, how romantic!” Or is it not going to come up somehow?
Surely it will have to come up at some point. How many people actually know the details about Milah? Is there actually anyone on that boat who knows apart from the two men themselves? I could see them ending up having a screaming match and the info coming out. I’d like to think it would give Emma pause, at least a few moments to wrap her head around it.
Would Snow and Charming be ok with CaptainSwan? They are both such moral people and Hook goes back and forth so much.
Hook is seriously ambiguous, however he is attempting to change now, so if his effort is genuine, they may decide to give him a chance. I could see Snow caving before Charming does though. She’d wanna give him the chance to prove himself, but Charming won’t be able to forget the innuendo Hook directed at Snow, and he sure as hell wouldn’t want such a sleaze with his baby girl. I actually hope Charming is anti CS, just for the opportunity to develop that father/daughter relationship that we haven’t seen much of yet.
