If they did do that, then it would almost certainly be the death knell for CS. Because no way would Emma want to be with, or want Henry anywhere near, the man that killed or nearly killed Neal. Loved the Princess Bride reference of Neal only being “mostly dead”.
What I think could happen and CSers probably won’t like this is Hook dies. The writers have suddenly introduced the concept of Hook thinking himself to be “a man of honour” when clearly a) He isn’t at the moment and b) He wasn’t spouting that during season 2, so why start now? What if Hook sacrifices himself in order to save Neal thus doing the honourable thing and in doing so truly becomes a man of honour? Also aside from the triangle, Hook hasn’t really got any other long-running storylines going on. His revenge against Rumple was doomed to failure and Neverland is now done.
