I know, its pretty dark, but it was a play on the idea that Hook does love Neal, just like Regina loved her father–but just not enough as there’s something they wanted more. Plus Hook has been written in this way that whenever he does something harmful, there’s this offsetting fate or circumstance to it. Rumple’s the Dark One and not innocent, same with trying to kill Cora, he shoots Belle but she gets her memories back anyway, locks Emma & CO–but they escape. It’s always the way with him that even if what it seems he’s doing is far from honorable (hitting charming from behind with a lead pipe?) the harm of it is offset–so if it were Hook to do it more likely it wouldn’t stick 🙂 I can’t think of any other main character that would have someone they love (but just not enough)to do Dark Curse part 2–but of course who knows where/when everyone is or if there’s a dark curse cast at all.
