This is Cursed!Emma. It’s like David trying to be happy with Katheryn. He couldn’t because he didn’t know who he really was. A life was more or less forced on him. Walsh might be a good guy, but Emma has no memories of who she is–including the Manhattan episode where she learns why Neal did what he did. Which means she hasn’t realized that she’s always loved Neal. But that realization is coming again
*Sigh* I think that is largely a cover tactic that CSers put forward, because inwardly they’re distressed at seeing Emma (though cursed) dating and potentially getting engaged to someone else who isn’t their beloved Killian. Remember when the CSers were proclaiming victory and saying Emma had chosen to go away to NYC for a romantic weekend? But then we learned what was really going on. Emma’s cursed and therefore not in her rightful mind! Then the CSers claimed that in 3×12, Killian will awaken Emma with TLK; well again, that isn’t happening since Emma will be awakened by a potion. I think both sides are going to spin the Walsh development to support their side. The fact is, until we know more, and we can’t even be certain exactly who Walsh is, since he might be sinister like Tamara was. I totally agree that Emma dating Walsh is a lot more similar to the David Nolan and Kathryn relationship because Emma has yet to remember the last several years.
