I didn’t even think about him being Belle’s foe. There are two possibilities:
1) After a year in the basement, he’s gone crazy and with his magic being returned to him, he will take his revenge out on the town
2) Belle releases him from the basement and with his magic, he helps protect Belle from whatever evil might try to get into SB
