I do not think we will see Wendy and Peter in a romantic relationship but that is a popular spin for off-shoots of Peter Pan. In the original it is very obvious Wendy sort of has a crush, as perhaps her mother before her did, and that he continues to come to her line through granddaughters to find a mother for his boys.

Maybe there’s something almost Oedipal in that, but Peter was looking for a mother, not a girlfriend, and he didn’t want to be touched or kiss, or to grow up be a man and get married.

What this incarnation wants, now there’s the puzzle. The way Wendy reacted upon returning home, I did not get the feeling she enjoyed NL in the least, but maybe she was sneakyWendy setting up Bae so she could please Peter.

I am so curious what we will learn and see with her again.

I hope you’re wrong with that, because for ONCE (pun intended) I want to see Peter end up with Wendy.

Barrie may not have intended a love relationship between Peter and Wendy, but nonetheless many people ship them together; heck, recent production have even touched that angle: Hook has Peter clearly heartbroken that Wendy has outaged him by a lot – he even marries her granddaughter as a next-best-thing thing – and in 2003’s Peter Pan the love he has for Wendy is very obvious, but faithful to the original he gives up on her so he can stay a perpetual immature youth. ONCE loves to do a different spin on the classic stories, so Peter/Wendy ending up together would be a rather nice touch.

Oh, and I hope Wendy was being truthful to Bae in Second Star to the Right. I find a Wendy strong enough to challenge Peter far more interesting than a brainless minion one doing a show for the sake of Peter’s charms.
