Maybe Hook would hallucinate Bae, and Emma would hallucinate Neal? That could actually set up his legit entry into NL, if either/or Hook and Emma have “seen” him previously, so they don’t initially believe that he’s the real deal when he really does arrive.
It would be quite fascinating if Rumple, Hook and Emma all had visions of Neal/Baelfire before he actually arrives in present-day NL. He is so central to all of their stories and he is the one who links them all. All three have love for Neal and all have regrets when it comes to Neal. Obviously, Rumple feels immensely guilty for having abandoned his son. Hook began to regard Bae like a son, and he might also feel guilt over having let Bae go with the Lost Boys. Emma loves Neal and probably regrets not being strong enough to hold onto him to save his life. Seeing visions of Neal would set the stage for all three to be shocked at Neal’s Lazarus-like resurrection in present-day NL!
