I cannot stand this argument that Neal makes her happy because there has been very little evidence as of late and in season two (present time), that Neal made Emma happy. She was mostly wary of him when he came back post-Manhattan. She wished that he was dead, so she could move on with her life. I agree, that Emma giving up Henry is probably what ruined her, more so than Neal leaving her. Now that I think about it, she probably thought how I can care for this baby when I was never loved? That’s a horrible thought to have as a new mother..
Exactly, @Obisgirl! I just don’t understand the whole “she said she loved him when he fell through the portal” argument. Of course she did, she was so completely full of emotion and stress and she thought he was dying. Her words after he was found alive must then hold just as much weight – “I wished you were dead,” “sorry, but that’s how I feel”…not exactly ‘let’s get back together, forget the 11 years we haven’t seen each other’. And of course, when you love someone, a little part of you is always going to care or even love them, it doesn’t mean you want to be with them. So, anyway, the boyfriend thing shouldn’t be too much of an obstacle for our OTP. What can he possibly have that our pirate doesn’t? And ok, can someone shed some light on this one? Ok, I get Emma decorating the apt with things that subconsciously remind her of SB and her family/past, but she doesn’t look at her arm at some point and say ‘why am I wearing a dirty bootlace on my wrist?!’ I mean, it’s kind of icky when you take away the sentimental value…the things that bother you at 6:45am…
