Since almost all I can see on my dash is you defending Captain Swan I thought you might want to read this argument 🙂 ‘Friendly reminder that we have only heard Emma say she loves someone seven times, and five of those were to (or about) Neal. The other two were to Henry.’ I think love here is misunderstood as being in love. Btw: I love your blog and all your arguments 🙂 -sophieingelare
Well, by that argument then, she doesn’t love her parents. I mean, come on. Yeah, she said she loves Neal, and? For the eighty billionth time, loving someone isn’t the same as being IN LOVE with someone.
I’d also point out that the times she actually said the exact words I love you to Neal were a) IN THE PAST, which doesn’t count in the present and b) WHEN SHE THOUGHT HE WAS DYING. Like. Emma says things in life or death situations that she doesn’t always adhere to when the smoke clears. ”Mom? Dad?” anyone?
On top of that, the only other times she’s made mention to this love she has for Neal thing, she’s been sobbing uncontrollably and miserable about admitting it. It is not romantic to say you’ll always love someone, but that you honestly wish that they were dead. That’s not romance. That’s tragedy.
She doesn’t HAVE to say “I love you” for her feelings to ring out. Emma’s a physical person. How she feels about someone isn’t always going to be said. Look how long it took her to admit that she loved Henry, to say the words. I’m sorry if some people can only go by what they hear, but me? I go by what I see. And they’ve had a hundred and twelve opportunities to show me that Emma in the present feels the things for Neal that she feels for Hook. And they haven’t shown me. Because she’s only “felt good” enough around one of them to kiss the heck out of him.
And that says a whole lot more to me than some “I love you” said when she thought the guy was dying.
