RG – I don’t think it was intended to hurt you or any of the shippers on this forum. You’re not haters! I thought they were funny only because of all the hate myself and my fellow CS shippers have been getting elsewhere, and with silly arguments like the one I cited above (that Neal is the Westley to Emma’s buttercup) that have absolutely no foundation in canon, or have even less foundation than our arguments. It’s a way to relieve the tension of the hate. I am just honestly fed up of the hate that I and some of my friends get sometimes on a daily basis and this is a great place to argue/state some of my thought’s against what they say, because I do not engage the haters when they come to my inbox on tumblr. Again, no disrespect intended towards any shippers on this site, you don’t randomly come into this thread and spew hatred at us, and we don’t do it to you guys! It’s one of the things I love about the site.
You want to yell and scream and call the Tumblr people stupid then TAKE IT TUMBLR. YOU DON’T BRING IT HERE. Because you’re not distinguishing between “us” (people you claim to respect and who are not “haters”) and those out there “in the wilds” as I call it. Because we’re all Oncers and you’re painting everyone on a different ship with the same brush. Commiserating with your fellow shipmates is one thing. SFers do it because (OH SHOCK) they get the hate too! They get spammed on Tumblr and Twitter and mocked and hated at too. They come here, tell us they’re under attack and we offer sympathy. Do the same. “Hey shipmates, I just got some nasty posts on Tumblr and I’m feeling low. Someone offer me up a video or a GIF or a parallel essay to make me feel better?” You want to say, “I received this argument against our ship in Tumblr and instead of engaging in the hate, I’d like to point out what I think is a better interpretation.” FINE. BY ALL MEANS. But you don’t get to fight hatred with hatred! Since when was fighting hatred with hatred A GOOD IDEA?! You’re right, SFers don’t come over here and spew hate (and if they did, I would beat them down with all the power I have just the same as if a CSer made their way over to the SF thread) (you want proof? the minute after I wrote my previous post, I went over to the SF thread and reminded everyone of the rules. I am trying–with all my might–to be fair and create an environment where people don’t feel like they are being hated upon) I *know* we read each others posts and that we respond to them in our own threads. So it’s really hard to say “oh we didn’t mean YOU GUYS” when you were directing it at the whole of a group. My point, overall here, is not to make anyone feel bad because I love you all. My point is respect. Pure, simple respect.
