I could see CS being developed that way, just as I feel Rumbelle is, but it doesn’t take away from a love story like Snowing either that is more like the Disney first and true love kind of story. Yet in terms of what it would take to prove it definitively? I think the writers could always find ways involving magic beyond what they showed us already. It’s kind of a cheap device though, if the only way people will believe a couple’s love is genuine is through magic, not through the actual romance formed by their interactions and faith in each other. Then again, as I said with Rumbelle, if you want to doubt it, you could, and maybe they do have to pull the tried and true sleeping curse device out to settle it.
If Charming didn’t wake Snow from the curse, would you believe they still loved each other deeply? I think I would because of all the chances they had to walk away from each other. I think the same of Henry and Emma. She didn’t have to stand by this kid. She didn’t have to put up with all the horrible things Regina did to her. Long before she gave him that kiss, I think the story itself told us she truly loved him.
I hope that’s how the writers go about whatever ship they give Emma. I don’t want it to be like ‘She’s in a curse, and along comes this character and its true love whether you like it or not.” That’d be definitive proof of lazy writing to me, nothing else. I have hope that is not what they are going to do.
All very interesting thoughts kfchimera, and also very true! I definitely believe that Snowing were TL, curse or no curse, but Emma’s situation is a bit more complex than that. And, without a definitive show of who her TL actually is, neither ship will be settled. I would rather find out that Emma and Neal were TL for certain than have her get with him and it’s not settled either way. Otherwise, there’ll always be doubts for all the shippers, not matter who they support.
