I agree with you 100% that he didn’t stay on the farm the whole time. He obviously didn’t. But 1) they’ve never said that Ariel has any connection to anyone else. She doesn’t need to be connected to anyone to integrate her into the story. At this rate, it’s far more likely that it’s Hook or Regina or possibly Rumple. And 2) Ok, sure. Some people don’t know how to swim but my point is that Prince Charming, the best knight in all the land, the hero of ultimate TL story WOULD know how to swim. It’s part of his knightly charm and heroics. If he learned it somewhere it doesn’t have to be from a mermaid. And 3) we don’t know that Ariel was in FTL at all.
