True. Robin Hood seems like a noble character, both in legend and on the show. He only stole magic from Rumple in order to save the life of his wife and unborn child. He seems to be in the same league as Snow White and Prince Charming, who only sent their baby daughter to our world to give her her best chance. While I’ve grown to like Regina and even root for her to do the right thing, it would take a lot of redemption on Regina’s part for Robin to esteem her and admire her, let alone love her. Killing Tamara, no matter how much Tamara might deserve it, would be a bridge too far is Tamara is indeed Robin’s daughter.
Do you think that ultimately, Regina will get her happy ending? Personally, I think she will, and that means that at some point, someone is gonna have to come along and bring out the good person she once was. They can’t give Regina her happy ending with someone who just lets her be evil and miserable. She has to get back to the person she originally was.
They’ve already put her through a lot of loss and heartbreak, so I think that towards the back half of this season, if she’s involved with a romance, it will be a positive relationship for her. Right now, they have no guarantees beyond S3, so if they want to set up a functional, potential happy ending relationship for her at any point, I think they’d be looking to set it up this season. That way, if (God forbid) they don’t get a S4, at least they’ve brought her more or less full circle and can end on a positive note for her. If they put it off for another season, there’s no guarantee they’ll get the chance to give her some happiness.
So we need someone good, who would give her a chance. Like I’ve said before, I can’t imagine anyone who suffered directly under her rule would want to give her a real chance. But if she ruled the Enchanted Forest, and Robin lived in Sherwood Forest, perhaps he never saw her evil acts first hand, and could therefore be that person who might be willing to let her prove herself.
If, during her time with Robin, Snow told this story…
When I was younger, the horse I was riding, ran away with me. I was about to be thrown, and I would have been killed. This woman, she had no idea who I was, she came charging after me. She saved me. She risked her own life, and changed me. My mother always told me to keep goodness in my heart, and this woman proved that she was right. It taught me that there can be this genuine, selfless connection between people, even strangers.
So, say that’s all that Robin has ever heard of Regina. That she changed Snow White, the kindest, fairest person out there, Regina changed her for the better. And he’s the only person alive who knows that story about Regina, apart from Snow (and Charming). We’ve seen how many chances Snow has given Regina, because she just couldn’t give up the hope that original-recipe-good-hearted-Regina is still buried in there somewhere. So why couldn’t Robin potentially be the one man who could give Regina a chance too, if that’s what his preconceived opinion is of her?
(Yes, I know I’m making some assumptions, but I’ve never had any positive potential headcanon involving Regina before, so I’m just going all out. :-P)
